A village girl fetching water
Near the waterfall on the bank
I stared at her
Her face was clear of sadness
My mind drew an affectionate blank
I wondered how her life was
Was it as slippery as where she stood
On that moss covered rock
Near this treacherous brook
Was she going back to a simple life
Simple like her face
Or was it like the oddly winding road
That led from the bank away
Does this bengal beauty
Know she is pristine
Will she stay this way
Or is this just the innocence in me
I wonder if her twirling gait
Will attract more eyes than mine
But I know I don't have to worry
She is a thought in my mind
